# n8n

Connect an n8n instance to add its workflows and users to your [Asset Map](/docs/asset-map). You can connect n8n Cloud or a self-hosted instance.

## What it maps

| Resource | Configuration |
| - | - |
| Instance | The n8n instance URL. |
| Workflows | Workflow names and whether they are active. |
| Users | Names, email addresses, roles, and pending invitations. |

The map groups workflows and users under their instance.

## Access required

Use an n8n API key with access to list workflows and users. On plans that support API key scopes, select `workflow:list` and `user:list`.

Antigen uses the key for read operations. On plans without scoped API keys, the key inherits broader access from its owner. Your n8n plan must include access to the public API and the resources you want to map. ## Connect n8n

### 1. Create an API key

In n8n, open **Settings → n8n API** and select **Create an API key**.

Name it `Antigen`, choose an expiration, and select the read scopes above if available. Copy the key.

### 2. Enter your instance URL

Open **Settings → Integrations → n8n** in Antigen.

Enter your instance’s base URL, such as `https://example.app.n8n.cloud`, and paste the API key. Use the base URL without `/api/v1`.

For a self-hosted instance, the API must be reachable from Antigen.

### 3. Complete the connection

Select **Connect**. Antigen reads the workflows and users available to the key and adds them to your Asset Map.

## Troubleshooting

### The instance cannot be reached

Check the URL, HTTPS certificate, and any network restrictions in front of the instance. Confirm that the n8n public API is enabled.

### Workflows or users are missing

Check the API key’s scopes and its owner’s permissions. Access to user information also depends on the capabilities available on your n8n plan.
