# Messaging

> Receive and respond to human tasks in Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Receive [human tasks](/docs/team-workflows) through direct messages in Slack or Microsoft Teams. Each request goes to the person assigned to the task and includes the relevant vulnerability and instructions.

## Connect your messaging tool

Open **Settings → Integrations** and connect Slack or Microsoft Teams.

When an agent assigns you a human task, you receive a direct message in the connected tool. You can respond there without repeating the update in the platform.

## Respond to a request

Reply to the task’s message to provide information, ask a question, or confirm that you completed the requested action.

For example, an agent may ask for access to a repository. Grant access through the GitHub integration, then reply to let the agent know. It retries its work and follows up in the same conversation if it still needs help.

If you cannot complete the request, explain what is blocking you so the agent can account for it.

## Tasks that complete automatically

Some requests concern actions that a connected integration can detect. If an agent asks you to merge a pull request, the task completes when the GitHub integration detects the merge. You do not need to send a separate confirmation.

Completion depends on what the task asks for. If it asks you to deploy a fix, merging the pull request alone does not complete the request.

## Use messaging with issue tracking

You can also connect an [issue tracker](/docs/team-workflows/issue-tracking). The assigned person receives a direct message and an assigned issue for the same human task.

Use the conversation to discuss the request and the issue to track the work. The agent receives updates through either tool.
