Connect a Clerk application instance to add its users and organizations to your Asset Map.

What it maps

Each user and organization is associated with the Clerk instance it belongs to.

Access required

Use the instance’s Secret Key to authenticate to Clerk’s Backend API. Production keys begin with sk_live_; development keys begin with sk_test_. See Clerk Publishable and Secret Keys. Antigen reads instance, user, and organization information. A Clerk Secret Key can also authorize changes to that instance.

Connect Clerk

1. Copy the instance’s Secret Key

Open your application in the Clerk Dashboard. Select the environment you want to map, then open API keys and copy the Secret Key. Use the production instance when mapping your production application. Development and production instances have separate users, organizations, and keys.

2. Complete the connection

Open Settings → Integrations → Clerk in Antigen. Paste the Secret Key and select Connect. The instance’s users and organizations appear in your Asset Map. Repeat these steps for each application instance you want to connect.

Troubleshooting

The map shows development users

Check that you selected the production instance in Clerk and supplied its sk_live_ key.

​

The key is rejected

Confirm that you copied the Secret Key. Publishable keys beginning with pk_ cannot authenticate the Backend API requests this integration uses. If you rotated the Secret Key, update the connection with its replacement.
