Connect Slack so agents can send human tasks directly to the people responsible for them. Each task arrives as a direct message with the request, relevant vulnerability, and instructions.

Access required

Install the Antigen app in your Slack workspace. It needs access to identify workspace members, send direct messages, and receive replies to its conversations. If your workspace restricts app installations, a workspace administrator must approve the app. Slack shows the requested permissions during installation.

Connect Slack

  1. Open Settings → Integrations → Slack.
  2. Select Connect and choose the Slack workspace your team uses.
  3. Review the requested permissions and authorize the Antigen app.
  4. Return to Antigen to complete the connection.
People assigned human tasks need an account in the connected workspace so the app can message them.

Respond to a task

Reply in the task’s conversation to provide information, ask a question, or confirm that you completed the requested action. For example, an agent might ask you to grant access to a repository. Update the GitHub integration, then reply to the message. The agent retries its work with the new access and follows up if it still needs help. Some actions can be detected through another connected integration. A task asking you to merge a GitHub pull request completes when the merge is detected, without a separate reply. Use Slack with an issue tracker

Connect an issue tracker to give the assigned person both a direct message and an issue for the same task. They can discuss the request in Slack while tracking the work in the issue.

Troubleshooting

A person does not receive a message

Check that they have an active account in the connected workspace and that the Antigen app is still installed and approved. Confirm that the human task is assigned to the intended person.

Replies do not reach the agent

Reply in the conversation containing the task. If the app’s permissions were revoked or changed, reconnect Slack and approve the requested access.
