Agents sometimes need your team to review a change, grant access, or make a decision. They request that help through human tasks. Each human task is assigned to a person. It explains what the agent needs, why it needs it, and what that person should do next.

When an agent needs help

Antigen’s pre-built triage-agent and remediation-agent create human tasks when they need someone to act. For example:
  • triage-agent requests access to a repository.
  • triage-agent asks for a decision about how to proceed with a vulnerability.
  • remediation-agent requests a review and merge of a proposed pull request.
  • remediation-agent asks someone to make a cloud configuration change.
Each request includes the relevant vulnerability and instructions for completing the task.

Receive requests in your tools

Connect your tools under Settings → Integrations. With messaging connected, the assigned person receives a direct message in Slack or Microsoft Teams. With issue tracking connected, the request appears as an issue assigned to that person. You can connect both to discuss and track the same task. Tasks also remain available in the platform.

How agents continue

When a connected integration can confirm the requested action, the task updates automatically. For example, if an agent asks you to merge a pull request, it detects the merge through GitHub. You do not need to confirm it separately. For other requests, complete the action and confirm through the connected tool. If an agent asks for repository access, grant access and respond to the request. The agent retries its work and follows up if it still needs help. Completing a human task lets the agent continue. It does not necessarily mean the vulnerability is resolved. See the vulnerability lifecycle for how fixes are verified.

Use human tasks with your own agents

Custom agents assembled with the Antigen SDK have a human_tasks tool they can use directly to request help from your team. External agents, such as Cursor Cloud or Devin, can create and interact with human tasks through the Antigen API. In both cases, requests use the same assignments and connected integrations as requests from the pre-built agents.
